Be a Master of Craps – Pointers and Strategies: The Background of Craps

Be brilliant, play smart, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the birth of the game, but Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It’s believed that Sir William’s paladins played Hazard amid a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.

Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when driven away by the British, the French headed down south and found safety in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which is acquired from the term for the non-winning toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and across the nation. A good many consider the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn created the current craps setup. He created the Don’t Pass line so players can bet on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he invented the spots for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
